Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s campaign is pushing back against an allegation made by Georgia Democratic gubernatorial challenger Stacey Abrams’ campaign that he has “disqualified himself” from the second term in office.
Lauren Groh-Wargo, Abrams for Governor campaign manager, said, “Brian Kemp is a failed governor who has disqualified himself from a second term.”
“Kemp disqualified himself by promoting a criminal carry measure that would increase the number of firearms on our streets and make us less safe,” she continued. “He disqualified himself by supporting a total ban on abortion with a ten-year jail sentence. He disqualified himself by denying food aid to poor Georgians while lining his own coffers. Kemp will be remembered as a one-term governor who pointed a gun at a boy on television in the future.”
In reaction to Abrams’ statements, Tate Mitchell, the Kemp for Governor campaign’s press secretary, told Fox News Digital that Georgians will suffer greatly under an Abrams government.
“Under Governor Kemp’s leadership, unemployment is at record lows, more Georgians are working than ever before, and in little over six months, Georgia launched the two greatest economic development initiatives in state history,” Mitchell added. “With Abrams in control, Georgia’s catastrophic Biden agenda of 40-year high inflation, open immigration, record gas prices, and soft-on-crime policies would become the law of the country.”
“While Stacey spends her time in ballrooms with left-wing activists declaring Georgia the ‘worst state to live in,’ Governor Kemp will battle to maintain Georgia the best place to live, work, and raise a family,” he said.
Both campaigns’ statements come one day after Georgia voters, both Democrats and Republicans, went to the polls to vote for their preferred candidates in primary elections. After receiving nominations from their respective parties, the two candidates will square off later this year in what is sure to be eerily similar to their 2018 governor’s race, which Abrams barely lost to Kemp.
