A 29-year-old Lewisham man has been detained following a stabbing in Greenwich.

At around 2.15 a.m. today, emergency services were summoned to Greenwich High Road (May 1).

A man in his 30s was rushed to the hospital, where he died shortly afterward.

The family of the victim has been notified.

According to police, the man was stabbed after a confrontation outside Belushi’s tavern on Greenwich High Road.

At a residential home, a guy was arrested on suspicion of murder.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed in Greenwich in the early hours of this morning (1 May).

“Officers from British Transport Police and the Metropolitan Police were called to Greenwich High Road at 2.15 am following reports of a stabbing.

“They quickly attended alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and a man in his thirties was taken to hospital where he very sadly died a short time later.

“His family has been informed, and detectives from British Transport Police will be leading the investigation.

“A 29-year-old man from Lewisham was arrested on suspicion of murder today (May 1) at a residential address.”
