Ric Flair, a multiple-time champion and WWE Hall of Famer, has had a colorful existence in and out of the ring. Flair took a long sabbatical from wrestling after suffering a health setback. He will now return to the ring on July 31 for one final fight.
Flair is ready to “Woooo” again, regardless of who his opponent is. “The Nature Boy” has seen it everything, and he’ll be working with Jim Crockett Promotions to bring his illustrious career to a close.
Ric Flair is 73 years old. Flair has been a part of the pro wrestling business for more than 40 years, having been born in 1949.
Flair, real name Richard Fliehr, began his professional wrestling career after being taught by Verne Gagne as an amateur wrestler. He debuted professionally in 1972 under the moniker “Ric Flair.” Flair fought in the AWA, NWA, WCW, and wherever else Jim Crockett Promotions needed him.
He was in a terrible plane crash in 1975, which fractured his spine in three places. Despite doctors’ predictions that his career was gone, Flair continued to wrestle into the late 2000s.
Flair dominated the National Wrestling Alliance in 1981, playing a big factor in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship match. Flair was a vital franchise player who fought Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, Terry Funk, Hulk Hogan, and Sting in deadly feuds. With Arn and Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and J.J. Dillon, Flair formed the Four Horsemen in 1985. In the NWA and WCW, the Horsemen set the standard for all significant factions today.
Flair became a two-time WWE champion and a Royal Rumble winner after joining the company in 1991. Before returning to WCW in 1993, he had feuds with Randy Savage and Bret Hart. He returned to WWE when WCW dissolved in 2001. In his second tenure with the company, he became a two-time tag team champion and the Intercontinental Champion.
