In a Taliban compound where Ben Roberts-Smith is accused of murdering two men, a SAS soldier told a court he saw no fighting-age guys. However, the soldier’s testimony was cut short when the Sydney courtroom’s emergency sirens sounded.

Mr. Roberts-Smith issued nine publications over allegations that while serving with the SAS, he shot or ordered the killing of six unarmed Afghans.

The Victoria Cross recipient has been contacting friends from the elite combat team to testify in his slander action in Federal Court.

One of Mr. Roberts-closest Smith’s pals is a soldier known as Person 27, who has served in Afghanistan on many occasions and continues to work in the SAS alongside Mr. Roberts-harshest Smith’s critics.

Person 27 was questioned regarding an Easter Sunday 2009 raid on a property known as Whiskey 108, which has become a significant battlefield in the investigation.

The SAS allegedly dragged two guys from a tunnel under Whiskey 108 before Mr. Roberts-Smith killed one down with a machine gun, according to Nine.

Nine also says that he instructed a novice SAS member to murder the second, elderly Afghan so that he could “blood” his first kill.Mr. Roberts-Smith has informed the court that there were no Afghans hiding in the tunnel, despite the fact that he disputes the allegations.

Several troops claim to have seen the two guys emerge from the tunnel, while others, including the sole one who ventured into the fissure, believe it was empty. Person 27, who was at Whiskey 108 on Monday, claimed he didn’t see the tunnel or any Afghan males.

“Did you come across any older guys fighting?” Arthur Moses SC, Ben Roberts-lawyer, Smith’s inquired.

“No,” said Person 27.

The soldier claimed to have seen Afghan women inside the facility, an allegation repeated by some soldiers and refuted by others.

“Do you recall what happened to the Afghan ladies, if anything?” Mr. Moses enquired. “I believe we brought them to a different facility… Person 27 stated, “We secured them there, and Whiskey 108 was subsequently burned.” Not long after the expedition, Person 27 heard rumors that the SAS had discovered a big weapons stash hidden behind a trap door.

According to Person 27, the SAS was compelled by the finding to detonate five explosives on the already wrecked structure. Person 27 said that he heard rumors that individuals had been shot at Whiskey 108 a few years later.

When emergency alarms rang in the Federal Court, Person 27 was being cross-questioned by Nine’s barrister, Nicholas Owens SC, concerning the rumors surrounding Whiskey 108.

The court was adjourned by Justice Anthony Besanko.
