The Clinton campaign ‘did not trust’ the FBI in 2016, and blames Comey for the’most devastating days of the campaign.’

Former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said Friday that campaign officials “did not trust” the FBI in 2016 and that former FBI Director James Comey, “not Trump,” was responsible for some of the “most devastating days of the campaign.”

Comey “broke procedure,” Mook said, referring to his public disclosures on the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server and handling of secret material.

On July 5, 2016, Comey stated that he would not seek charges against Clinton during a rare news conference, claiming that she was “very reckless” in her handling of sensitive material on her private email server.

However, months later, on Oct. 28, 2016, Comey wrote to Congress, citing the FBI’s discovery of Clinton and aide Huma Abedin’s emails on a laptop owned by Abedin’s then-husband, Anthony Weiner.

Just a week before the 2016 presidential election, the emails revived the FBI’s probe against Clinton, dubbed the “Midyear Exam” or “MYE.”

“At the time, we didn’t trust the FBI,” Mook explained. “So much so that Comey invited several of us to a briefing on election security soon before the election.

The 2016 CIA letter to Comey and Strzok read, “The following information is offered for the sole use of your bureau for background investigative action or lead reasons as appropriate.”

The document added, “Per FBI verbal request, CIA supplies the following instances of intelligence the CROSSFIRE HURRICANE fusion cell has garnered to date.” “A conversation [REDACTED] detailing US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s acceptance of a plan to divert the public from her use of a private email server by involving US presidential contender Donald Trump and Russian hackers disrupting US elections.”

The document has a lot of redactions. We didn’t go because we didn’t want to be associated with the group or act in that manner at that time.” Clinton has frequently blamed Comey and the FBI probe into “Those Damn Emails” (the title of one chapter in her book “What Happened”) for her second presidential campaign defeat.

In May 2017, Clinton declared, “If the election occurred on October 27, I’d be your president.”
