After 22 minutes, Kane sent visiting goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale the wrong way from the penalty spot after Cedric shoved Son in the back while defending a cross.

Rob Holding was sent off after elbowing Son in the face while attempting to run on to a long ball. He had already been booked for a foul on Son.

In the aftermath of Holding’s departure, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta chose not to strengthen his defensive ranks, and the team quickly bore the repercussions of their numerical disadvantage.

Emerson Royal nodded a corner into the path of the unmarked Kane at the far post, who poked the ball in for his 13th goal in 17 appearances in the North London derby.

Arteta’s agony was compounded two minutes after halftime when Kane held the ball up in front of goal and teed up Son, who smashed a shot beyond a crowd of players.
