The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office has released a security video of prison officer Vicky White visiting a motel the day she escaped a county jail with a murder suspect.
Vicky White may be seen at the desk of a Quality Inn motel in Florence, Alabama on April 29, the same day she reportedly aided murder suspect Casey White, 38, in fleeing from the jail, in a video released on Saturday.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton announced during a press conference on Friday that the pair’s car had been recovered. Nothing was discovered in the automobile, according to the sheriff’s office.
“A week ago, the SUV was reported as abandoned. The vehicle had no tags on it and was locked. It was discovered yesterday night, and a search was performed this morning in the area where the SUV was discovered. Nothing was discovered. The car is now being searched “According to a sheriff’s office Facebook post.
Singleton speculated that the two had a “jailhouse romance.” Vicki White was supposed to retire at the conclusion of her shift on April 29, but she reportedly assisted Casey White in escaping jail.
Vicky White informed coworkers just after 9 a.m. on April 29 that she was taking Casey White to the county courtroom for a mental health assessment. Vicky White also stated that after driving Casey White to the courts, she would visit a doctor because she felt unwell, which was reportedly done to purchase additional time.
On Friday, after several hours had gone, colleagues attempted to contact Vicky White by phone but were unsuccessful.
On Monday, Singleton filed an arrest warrant for Vicky White, alleging that she was tricked or pressured into a conspiracy by Casey White.
“It would be so out of character for the Vicky White we all know to do it voluntarily,” Singleton added.
On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office revealed that the two had a “special friendship.”
