Austin City Council want to decriminalize abortion citywide

Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which will soon bring Texas’ “trigger law” into force. Members of the Austin City Council are attempting to adopt legislation that would legalize abortion statewide.

Council members want new legislation that would directly target a state measure that would prohibit abortions.

The GRACE Act, which stands for “Guarding the Right to Abortion Care for Everyone,” however sought after passed by Austin City Council members.

According to the report, Vela stated, “Today is a difficult day for our country. I regret the abuses of physical autonomy which the Texas state government will soon inflict on Austin inhabitants.”

According to Vela, police should preferably only take a report in relation to an abortion inquiry.

“We are aware that state laws impose restrictions on us. And however, must accept the report. We must accept the citizen’s report or whoever else’s. However, in an ideal world, we only want to take the report.

On June 16, the Austin City Council adopted a resolution to “examine every option.”

District 6 council member Mackenzie Kelly stated on June 16 that any measures to restrict the sale of firearms would be in violation of state law.

Any effort by Austin to limit, control, or impede the sale of firearms, in my opinion, would be in violation of state preemption statutes.
