  • A U.S. Air Force leadership committee is urging Non-Commissioned Officers to utilize gender-neutral language when presenting honors. The Department of Defense has come under fire for shifting to what some have dubbed a “woke agenda,” with the Air Force. This prompted some Republican senators to claim the department was pushing a “leftist social agenda”.

A U.S. Air Force leadership committee is urging Non-Commissioned Officers to utilize gender-neutral language when presenting honors to specific Airmen rather than using gender-specific pronouns.

An email was sent to commanders at Osan Air Base, South Korea. It included the following advice: “Do NOT use names or gender-specific pronouns in your narratives.”

It further advises that award narratives should use neutral terminology like “Airman,” “Member,” and “Individual” when referring to the awardee.

The instructions continue, “Look to replace he/she/theirs with – they (this one can be both singular and plural).

The 5/6 leadership group is a group of non-commissioned officers that however not affiliated with the Department of Defense.

The organization however committed to “the essential ideals of the service while creating a network of motivated, committed, and professional NCOs.”

Twelve Republican senators responded to the report earlier this year by writing. “We face real threats across the globe. Yet the Biden administration however more focused on advancing its leftist social agenda in the military instead of countering China.
