More than 150 American police officers shot this year, with at least 24 of them dying in the line of duty.

“Criminals feel free to participate in the crime,” said Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith is a retired officer with nearly three decades of service.

“Given his prior history and the nature of the violation, the sentence he received in the firearm case was commensurate with case resolutions for this sort of offense,” beleaguered Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon’s office told on Wednesday.

The Fraternal Order of Police said that police shooting going up 10% this year compared to last between January 1 and June 1.

Texas and Arizona have the most line-of-duty shootings as of June 1, 2022. Both New York and Georgia had nine. Missouri had eight, while Washington had seven.

Police morale is poor, and the anti-police sentiment is strong in “awake” towns and counties, resulting in an increase in officer shootings and crime in general. Officers are also leaving at an increasing rate, and agencies are having difficulty hiring.
