Annie Farmer, a victim of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal criticized former British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell for her “hollow” apologies to the victims in court.

Maxwell, who received a 20-year prison term on Tuesday. She convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in his efforts to groom and recruit young females for sex abuse.

It was a very trying day for her emotionally. But hearing the sentence read and realizing that she would likely spend most of her life in prison for the crimes she did.

Farmer revealed to host Gayle King that she gave the judge a copy of her victim impact statement in the hopes that she would take into account the “long-term repercussions” of the crimes of sexual assault done by Epstein and Maxwell.

She emphasized, “I wanted her to understand that there are systemic ramifications to those [acts]. That it’s not only about those individuals but also about other loved ones. The pain and suffering that communities go through as a result of these crimes.

Farmer cited Maxwell’s evident lack of regret for her wrongdoings as one of the trial’s most unsettling elements. Noting that her continued lying and the unrelenting efforts put into pursuing justice created a “black hole” for victims like herself.

Farmer underlined the surprise of everyone involved, especially after hearing Maxwell’s remorse, that she spoke after her punishment.

“It wasn’t an apology, in my opinion. She accepted no accountability. It felt extremely hollow to me and the other ladies I spoke with.
