Residents of Salvation Army shelter helping those in need

• They deliver it to shelters in downtown San Diego, Escondido, and Oceanside.
• The initiative was first funded with $1 million by the Lucky Duck Foundation.
• Now, the foundation wants to invest an additional $ 1 million to expand the program.

Two years ago, residents of a Salvation Army shelter in San Diego however given a crucial task. To save food from the San Diego region that would have otherwise gone to the dump.

According to Lucky Duck Foundation Executive Director Drew Moser. Over 500,000 pounds of perfectly good food however saved and distributed to those in need by these food rescue route drivers since.

In order to do that in 2020, the foundation joined together with Feeding San Diego salvation Army.

They have received training to drive the routes that Feeding San Diego provides and rescue food before it however wasted.

According to Moser, the objective is to provide them with sufficient experience so they may eventually support themselves financially and even get a full-time job.
