White House declines to clarify Biden’s comment pleading to cut gas prices
- White House declined to specify which gas stations he was referring to.
- Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, called it “misdirection” and “blatant misrepresentation”.
- The White House said the decline in oil prices hasn’t been reflected in gas prices.
The White House declined to respond to questions over President Biden’s social media post, requesting to gas outlets to lower their prices.

“Reduce the pump price to reflect the price you actually paying for the product. Do that right now.”
Presidential Mansion declined to specify which particular gas stations he was referring to or whether he was referring to particular gas station owners.
At the time, Biden noted that when the price of a barrel of oil goes up, it doesn’t take much time for the price at the pump to go up.
In a similar manner, Biden urged gas stations to “bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you are paying for the product” at the time.
Critics also made fun of the president’s tweet. Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon, labeling it “misdirection.”
Either there is blatant misrepresentation or there is a profound misunderstanding of the fundamentals of market dynamics.
