A World War II veteran was surprised to learn that a bullet from the conflict remained lodged in his neck nearly 8 decades later. According to the media sources, the combat veteran identified as Zhao He is a Chinese citizen. During the devastating World War II, the 95-year-old got a bullet stuck in his body. However, the mayhem and commotion at the moment were so intense that he didn’t even notice its presence till the conflict was ended. It wasn’t until recently that medical personnel at a hospital in Shandong, China, discovered the bullet during an X-ray of Zhao He’s neck.

The son-in-law of the elderly Wang appeared to be unaware that Zhao had been shot numerous times during the conflict. As a result, the discovery of the decades-long bullet came as a huge surprise to him. According to the portal, the son-in-law also claimed that, in addition to the gunshot, he had war shrapnel in his body. During one of his skirmishes, Zhao was injured while carrying a wounded colleague over the river, according to Wang.

“He was injured while carrying a wounded comrade across a river during one of the battles. There is shrapnel in other parts of his body as well,” he stated. Doctors call it a wonder that the trapped bullet hasn’t caused any problems for the old despite being in his body for nearly 77 years. The medical team has chosen not to remove the bullet from his body because it has not yet caused any harm. Furthermore, given the elderly’s age, the procedure would entail dangerous surgery. “I’ve been healthy all these years so there is no reason to change things now,” the combat veteran agreed with the medical specialists.”

Notably, the ex-Chinese soldier entered his country’s military force as a teen. Zhao He served in two conflicts, one of which was the Korean War in the 1950s on the side of North Korea, and the other against the United States and South Korea.
