One of the top stars in Pakistan’s drama and cinema industries is Sajal Aly. The actress got her debut with Mahmoodabad Ki Malkayein and has since worked on numerous fantastic projects both domestically and abroad. Sajal Aly is now renowned for choosing the greatest projects with scripts that aren’t just generic damsel in distress tales but instead have a point to make. Aangan, Yakeen Ka Safar, Alif, Ye Dil Mera, and Kuch Ankahi are just a few of the hits she has delivered. She excels in the dramas she chooses, and she selects stories that portray women as powerful.

Yet, modern dramas are primarily based on the traditional saas-bahu sagas, or stories of helpless women who fall in love with a man even if he is a stalker and a criminal. Regrettably, many of these plays receive high ratings.

Sajal said that she and Saba had to decline numerous projects because we witness women falling in love with their harassers. However, she added that as actors, we have the power to choose good roles and fight to uphold the truth because television has the ability to effect change.
