Hasan Raheem, a Pakistani rapper, singer, and songwriter who made his Coke Studio debut with the song Peechay Hutt revealed on Tuesday that the song would serve as the “Aurat March” anthem. The inspirational song, which also appeared in the Marvel series Ms Marvel, was created in collaboration with Talal Qureshi and featured Justin Bibis, two local singers who became famous for their brilliant impersonations of international pop star Justin Bieber. Recently, the song was played during the rally for Aurat March Lahore.

The Aurat March handle tweeted a video of women dancing to the song and added their own spin to the lyrics, writing: “Rasta choriae ab ham aa gayae/Garbar ke bawajood March kar gayae/Mashra aur state khechain tangain, phir bhi chah gayae na/Peechay hutt [Make way, now we’re here/despite problems, we’ve held the march/the society and the state pulls our legs, but we’ve still conquered].”

A few days later, Hasan wrote on Twitter:

Raheem has now dedicated these lyrics and the song—to all women who fight against patriarchy, confront obstacles, and stay firm in their demands for equality.

The singer further tweeted:

The lyrics appear to be a celebration of Justin Bibis’ own success, as they evolved from internet memes to singing superstars.

In 2021, Saania Sohail, 21, and Muqadas Jandad, 18, finally received their big break when they were selected to perform in Coke Studio, six years after their internet-famous video of them singing Justin Bieber’s “Baby” went viral.
