Govt reduces Hajj expenses, improving facilities for pilgrims: Aneeq Ahmed
KARACHI: Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Dr. Aneeq Ahmed declared a significant reduction of 0.1 million rupees in government Hajj expenses while ensuring uncompromised facilities.
During the visit he highlighted infrastructure issues and stressed that Haj is an important pillar of Islam and Hujjaj are trained and facilitated in this building therefore it needs to be upgraded.
Addressing the media persons, he said, “Without any cost, Government will provide QR code, a suitcase of 30 Kg to all hujjaj which will help in locating their luggage” “Moreover, Government will also provide Pakistan Flagged abaya to all the female hujjaj which will make them prominent and they will represent the country”.
Further, he also announced that with the support of IT ministry, his ministry will launch an application which will guide Hujjaj throughout their journey from the registration of application to the completion of Haj and returning to the country”.
Speaking on expense reduction, he briefed the audience that vision of the Prime Minister is to make Haj affordable for all citizens, therefore, his ministry is working continuosly to reduce Haj expenses without compromising the facilities and amenities. Currently, he said, an amount of 1 lac has been reduced and his ministry is working on further reduction.
He also announced that those who would opt for short stay of 20-22 days, would be subject to less charges than the normal one.
Talking about space allocation at Haj, he said, “We are trying to get space in old Minna area as it is nearer than the New Minna and Thanked Saudi Hajj Ministry for extending every possible assistance in this regard”.
Discussing on Road to Mecca facility, Minister stated that immigration facility was available in Islamabad which has been extended to Karachi region and soon would be available in Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta as well.
