NDMA Punjab issues smog advisory
LAHORE: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Punjab has issued a smog advisory while air quality index is also expected to deteriorate from moderate to bad in upcoming days.
According to NDMA, smog is likely to reach dangerous levels in central and southern Punjab next week.
In the NDMA advisory, it has been said that smog may reach dangerous levels in Gujranwala, Multan, Lahore, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal divisions may also be affected by smog.
According to NDMA, the air quality index in Islamabad, Rawalpindi division is also expected to deteriorate from moderate to bad.
The advisory asks the public to limit outdoor activities, wear masks when going out, be aware of local air quality levels, drink more water to protect the respiratory system from the effects of smog.
It should be noted that in view of the smog, holidays were declared on Friday to Sunday in various districts of Punjab including Lahore by the caretaker Punjab government.
Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi announced a holiday on Friday, November 10 in all districts of Lahore Division, Gujranwala, Wazirabad and Hafizabad districts in view of smog.
