ECP to establish 92,353 polling stations across country
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has designed the final polling scheme for the general elections scheduled on February 8.
The Election Commission has completed 75% of the work for the general elections and according to the polling scheme, 92,353 polling stations will be established across the country for the election.
The Election Commission has declared 6,040 polling stations in Punjab, 4,726 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7,802 in Sindh and 2,038 in Balochistan as highly sensitive. In this regard the ECP has sent a letter to the Provincial Election Commissioners.
The ECP is working on the Election Management System (EMS) to ensure the conduct of the general elections scheduled on February 8 across the country.
Sources said, 52,412 polling stations will be setup in Punjab for general elections 2024 out of which 30,755 normal, 15,617 sensitive and 6,040 polling stations have been declared as highly sensitive.
Earlier, Federal Cabinet approved the deployment of personnel from the Pakistan Army due to a shortage of more than 270,000 security personnel for the general elections for 2024.
The meeting of the federal cabinet chaired by interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar endorsed the summary from the Minister of Interior regarding the deployment of armed forces during the upcoming general elections.
