PHC dismisses PTI plea to conduct election under judicial supervision
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court(PHC) rejected the request of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to conduct the general elections under judicial supervision.
Justice Shakeel Ahmed of Peshawar High Court dismissed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s petition while pronouncing a reserved decision on PTI’s application, the written decision of which will be issued later.
It should be noted that PTI had requested to conduct the elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the supervision of the judiciary.
PTI’s lawyer Muazzam Ali Khan pleaded in the court that PTI is not being provided with a level playing field for the election, we do not have faith in the Election Commission of Pakistan, Returning Officers(ROs), District Returning Officers(DROs) and bureaucracy.
PTI’s lawyer said that it is not possible to conduct a transparent election under the current bureaucracy, so we want the elections to be conducted under the supervision of judicial law officers.
After hearing the arguments, the Peshawar High Court had reserved its decision on the petition of PTI.
Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has unveiled the ultimate compilation of ten minority seats within the National Assembly.
