In Lahore, on Thursday, a total of 55 complaints were lodged with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on election day. The primary concern raised was regarding the suspension of internet and mobile services throughout Pakistan.

Political figures, including PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, voiced grave concerns regarding the suspension of internet and mobile services nationwide.

As per the ECP, the majority of complaints primarily pertained to minor scuffles and were categorized as routine incidents.

“The ECP has resolved 45 complaints thus far,” stated the commission in a release, providing clarification. It further mentioned that efforts are ongoing to address the remaining ten complaints, which are also of a routine nature.

The ECP affirmed that the polling process would proceed without interruption until 5 p.m. As of now, the ECP has stated that there have been no proposals for extending the polling period.

Earlier today, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja asserted that the commission remained steadfast in completing the election process. He attributed the suspension of internet and mobile services to security concerns.

“We don’t have authority over internet and mobile services in the country,” stated CEC Raja. He remarked that the election process had thus far transpired peacefully.
