RAK police crack down on cars with no plates
Authorities in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) have initiated a campaign targeting vehicles with modified engines and drivers lacking registration plates, imposing substantial fines to enhance road safety.
This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s endeavor to bolster traffic security through advanced systems.
The Traffic and Patrols Division of Ras Al Khaimah Police is enforcing stringent measures against drivers with modified vehicles and those without proper license plates on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
This collaborative effort with the Comprehensive Police Department has yielded significant outcomes.
Major Khaled Al Shamsi, Head of the Traffic Investigation and Control Department, disclosed that in 2023, 247 tickets were issued for unauthorized modifications, resulting in fines of Dh1,000, a deduction of 12 traffic points, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.
Regarding vehicles without plates, 42 were seized, necessitating a Dh3,000 fine, a deduction of 23 traffic points, and a 90-day impoundment.
The Traffic and Patrols Department emphasizes that traffic violations pose grave risks of accidents and underscores the legal ramifications for offenders.
