UAE Weather Update; Fog and Humidity Forecast Across Coastal Areas
The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a new weather alert, forecasting heavy rain and dust storms in the coming week. These weather patterns are linked to a surface low-pressure system from the Southwest, an extension of an upper air depression, and a westerly trough.
Sunday and Monday are expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy, with a chance of heavy rainfall, especially in northern, eastern, and coastal areas.
Temperatures are likely to drop by Monday, particularly in western regions, and winds will shift from southeasterly to northwesterly, ranging from light to moderate, occasionally becoming fresh and causing blowing dust and sand, particularly in cloudy conditions.
Sea conditions are predicted to range from slight to moderate, occasionally becoming rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.
Last week’s recorded rainfall matched that of three decades ago, causing flooding across the country and prompting remote work and learning arrangements.
To increase rainfall, the UAE conducted 27 cloud seeding operations from February 11 to 15, targeting clouds with strong updrafts and high humidity.
