IHC suspends sentences of Islamabad DC, SSP, SHO in contempt case
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the sentence of Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon in the contempt of court case.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb issued the order on the intra-court appeal of DC Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP) Operations Malik Jameel Zafar and Station House Officer (SHO) Margalla Police Station.
The court also suspended the punishment of DC Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, SSP Operations Jameel Zafar and SHO.
The court has suspended the sentence of the three petitioners in the contempt of court case till May 7 and directed to fix May 7 for appeal hearing.
Earlier, a single-member bench comprising Justice Babar Sattar convicted these officials of repeatedly issuing and executing detention orders against PTI leader Shehryar Afridi and sentenced them to six, four and two months imprisonment, respectively.
The court order said that the convicts should be taken into custody and send them to Adiala Jail if they do not file appeals to suspend sentences within 30 days.
