Karachi Traffic Police Temporarily Waive Challans, From 5 PM Until Iftar
To enhance the commuting experience for citizens during the holy month of Ramadan, Karachi Traffic Police has announced a temporary halt on issuing challans from 5 PM until Iftar time. This decision, directed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ahmed Nawaz, aims to ensure smoother traffic flow as people rush home to break their fasts.
During this period, commuters traveling with their families will receive warnings instead of challans, allowing them to reach their destinations without unnecessary delays. The focus of the traffic police will be on preventing violations such as one-way driving, which can lead to accidents and disrupt traffic patterns.
Special attention will also be given to preventing parking at turning points, especially for rickshaws, cars, and motorcycles. Officers without body-worn cameras will not be authorized to issue challans, ensuring transparency and accountability in enforcement activities.
Furthermore, strict adherence to the fast lane on Sharea Faisal is emphasized, with motorcyclists encouraged to use designated by-lanes. Car lifting activities will be limited to cases of double or illegal parking, with specific times allocated for such actions.
DIG Nawaz also stressed the importance of respectful interactions between officers and citizens, warning of disciplinary measures for any misconduct within the law enforcement framework.
This temporary suspension of challans during specific hours aims to reduce traffic congestion and promote a safer commuting experience during Ramadan evenings in Karachi.
