Eid Moon Sighting in Pakistan is set for April 9
The anticipation for Eid al-Fitr in Pakistan heightens as the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee prepares for its crucial meeting scheduled for April 9 in Islamabad. Chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad and organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, this meeting holds significant importance in determining the start of Shawwal and the celebration of Eid.
The primary objective of the committee’s gathering is to sight the moon for Shawwal, marking the end of Ramadan. Comprising members from diverse sectors such as meteorology, astronomy, and governmental authorities, the committee aims to gather testimonies and observations from different regions regarding the moon sighting.
In addition to the Central Committee’s meeting, zonal moon-sighting committees will also convene at designated locations across the country. These committees play a crucial role in collecting local testimonies and contributing to the overall decision regarding the moon sighting.
Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad had previously hinted at the possibility of sighting Ramadan’s moon on the 29th, based on scientific calculations. This underscores the meticulous approach taken by the committee in aligning with both scientific methods and traditional testimonies.
Meteorologists have predicted the birth of the new moon on the night of April 8 at 11:21 p.m., indicating favorable conditions for moon sightings on April 9. This forecast adds to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the upcoming Eid celebrations.
As Pakistan eagerly awaits the outcome of the moon-sighting process, communities across the country are preparing for the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan with prayers, feasts, and festivities.
