Rajab moon sighted in Pakistan
Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in the kingdom on Tuesday.
Saudi Arabian authorities had urged citizens on Saturday to look for the Shawwal moon on the evening of April 8.
According to the Sharia, the moon sighting can be done without aids or with binoculars, after which the sighting should be reported to the nearest court or center, as reported.
Ramadan commenced on March 11, 2024, during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset.
Eid ul Fitr, one of the significant Eid events in the Islamic calendar, involves feasting, gatherings, prayers, and exchanging gifts. It occurs in the month of Shawwal and lasts for three days.
In Pakistan, the Meteorological Office forecasted that Eid ul Fitr’s first day would fall on April 10, as the Shawwal moon was anticipated to be sighted on April 9.
The Met Office mentioned that the crescent would emerge on April 8 at 11:21 pm and would be approximately 19 to 20 hours old the following day around the Maghrib prayer time.
