Karachi Sizzles as Temperature Peaks; PMD Warns of Continued Heat
Karachi, the bustling metropolis of Pakistan, recently faced its hottest day of the year, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 37 degrees Celsius (98.6 degrees Fahrenheit) on Sunday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) highlighted that the city’s humidity levels spiked to 45%, exacerbating the already sweltering conditions.
The temperature surge in Karachi marked a significant increase of 3 degrees from the previous day’s readings. Moreover, neighboring cities such as Chhor, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mithi, and Mohenjo Daro also grappled with extreme heat, recording temperatures ranging from 40 to 41 degrees Celsius (104 to 105.8 degrees Fahrenheit).
While the PMD has not issued a formal heatwave warning, it anticipates the continuation of hot and dry weather conditions across Sindh. Typically, the months of May, June, and July signify the peak of summer in Pakistan, characterized by scorching temperatures and minimal precipitation.
As Karachi residents brace themselves for the relentless heat, authorities urge precautionary measures to mitigate the adverse effects of soaring temperatures. Hydration, staying indoors during peak sunlight hours, and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities are essential strategies to safeguard against heat-related illnesses.
With the mercury on the rise, it becomes imperative for individuals to remain vigilant and prioritize their well-being amidst the sweltering heat. While the PMD continues to monitor weather patterns, citizens are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to navigate through the blistering summer months.
