IHC finds no legal reason to restrict Zartaj Gul from traveling to KSA
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court said that there was no legal or moral justification for imposing a travel ban on former federal minister Zartaj Gul.
Islamabad High Court Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri issued a written hearing order on Zartaj Gul’s petition seeking the removal of her name from the Exit Control List (ECL) so that she could travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.
The court in its order said that the interior secretary should appoint a senior officer who knows the law to assist the court and the authorized officer should be aware of the facts of the case in the next hearing along with the relevant records.
The court order further stated that according to the counsel, several cases have been registered against the petitioner on protest and she is facing the law. The Zartaj Gul is not absconding or wanted in any case and has secured bail.
The order states that there is no legal reason or moral justification for the travel restrictions on Zartaj Gul.
The Islamabad High Court issued a notice to the Interior Secretary and sought a reply on the matter.
