LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is likely to be elected as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president while  a proposal has been made to make former Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique the Secretary General of the party.

The sources said the proposal of the Secretary General will be presented in the General Council meeting of PML-N and the final decision in this regard can also be taken in the meeting.

Sources say that Ahsan Iqbal had asked the party leadership to leave the post of Secretary General even during the Pakistan Democratic Movement(PDM) government.

Sources said that the general council meeting of PML-N will be held on May 11 in Lahore. Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will be made the president of PML-N in the general council meeting.

Speaking to media in this regard, Ahsan Iqbal said that he had told the party leadership a year ago that he wanted to leave the post.
