Pakistan Railways Lowers Ticket Prices After Petrol & Diesel Price Cuts!
In a move to alleviate the financial strain on the public, Pakistan Railways has announced a substantial reduction in train fares, following the recent decrease in petrol and diesel prices. This initiative aims to make train travel more affordable for people across the country, particularly amidst rising inflation.
The new fares apply to distances ranging from 1 to 200 kilometers. The most significant reductions are in economy-class tickets, with prices dropping by up to 54%. For example, the minimum economy fare for the popular Lahore to Rawalpindi route has been slashed from Rs 250 to Rs 100. Similarly, AC class fares have been reduced by 40%, providing substantial savings for passengers.
This fare reduction follows the government’s decision to lower diesel prices by Rs 7.88 per liter on May 15, bringing the cost down to Rs 274.08 per liter. By passing these savings on to passengers, Pakistan Railways aims to encourage more people to choose train travel, offering a cost-effective alternative to other transportation options.
Officials from Pakistan Railways are optimistic that the new, lower fares will attract more passengers, boosting both ridership and revenue. They view this fare reduction as a timely measure to support the public during economically challenging times. The initiative not only aims to make travel more affordable but also to help mitigate the impact of inflation on daily expenses.
Beyond lowering fares, Pakistan Railways is committed to enhancing the overall travel experience. Ongoing efforts include improving service quality, ensuring punctual train schedules, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. These improvements are part of a broader strategy to make train travel more appealing and reliable.
The public has welcomed the fare reduction announcement. Passengers have expressed their appreciation for the savings, noting that the lower costs will significantly impact their daily travel and long-distance journeys. This move is expected to increase the number of train users, providing a much-needed boost to Pakistan Railways’ operations.
