The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, recently conducted a successful raid targeting a franchisee of a cellular company situated on Jampur Road in DG Khan.
The raid was specifically aimed at addressing the illegal issuance of SIMs by the franchisee. As a result of the operation, authorities confiscated 17 BVS devices, 1 laptop, 360 active SIMs, and 1,000 scanned soft images of finger and thumb impressions from laptops as crucial evidence. Additionally, two individuals were apprehended on the premises by the FIA, which has initiated further investigations into the matter.
This crackdown follows complaints filed by the PTA with the FIA based on intelligence regarding the unauthorized issuance of SIM cards through the sales channel. The raids demonstrate PTA’s commitment to eliminating the illegal distribution of SIMs, as highlighted in their official statement regarding the operation.
