Sindh Govt to Increase Salaries of govt employees in Budget 2024-25
KARACHI – In a move aimed at providing financial relief to government employees, the Sindh government is expected to increase salaries by up to 25 percent in the budget for the next fiscal year 2024-25. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will present the Budget 2024-25 in the provincial assembly today, June 14, a day after Punjab unveiled its tax-free budget.
The provincial government plans to boost the salaries of its employees by up to 25 percent. Additionally, the pensions of retired government employees are expected to increase by 15 percent for the next fiscal year. These measures are intended to provide much-needed financial support to public sector workers.
The minimum wage in Sindh is expected to be aligned with the federal and Punjab levels. This adjustment aims to ensure uniformity and fairness in wages across different regions.
Sindh’s development budget is projected to exceed 900 billion rupees, reflecting a strong commitment to infrastructure and development projects. The budget allocates 12 billion rupees specifically for Karachi mega schemes. Rather than introducing new schemes, the budget will feature a new portfolio within the provincial development program.
The target for provincial revenue collection will be increased, indicating an effort to boost financial resources for development and public services. There is also a proposal to adjust various tax rates to optimize revenue generation.
In a bid to cut unnecessary expenditures, the provincial government has decided to reduce vehicle purchases in the upcoming fiscal year. This measure is part of broader efforts to streamline government spending.
The Sindh government’s budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 aims to address key financial issues faced by government employees and the broader public. With significant salary and pension increases, adjustments to the minimum wage, and a substantial development budget, the government is positioning itself to provide comprehensive economic support and development. As the provincial assembly prepares to review and approve these proposals, citizens can anticipate positive changes in the coming fiscal year.
