Donald Trump injured in election rally shooting, assailant killed
Former US President Donald Trump was injured in a shooting during an election rally, with the assailant killed in the incident.
According to American media, Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, was shot during his rally in Pennsylvania, resulting in injuries.
After the shooting, security personnel quickly evacuated Trump, while a bystander was also killed in the chaos. The incident caused a stampede in Butler, Pennsylvania, with Trump being taken to a nearby facility for medical attention.
Reports indicate that five shots were fired at Trump from a distance, and the assailant was subsequently killed. The US Secret Service has launched an investigation into the incident.
In a social media statement, Trump revealed that the bullet grazed his ear, causing significant bleeding. He expressed disbelief that such an attack could occur in the United States and thanked law enforcement for their swift action in moving him to safety.
Trump’s eldest son, Trump Jr., and daughter, Ivanka Trump, issued statements following the attack. Trump Jr. vowed that his father would continue his fight to save America. Ivanka thanked everyone for their prayers and the Secret Service for their quick response.
The assailant has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crook. Sources report that Crook fired from a building 120 yards away using an automatic rifle, killing two individuals, including a police officer, and injuring two others.
