The tentative schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted by Pakistan, was revealed, as reported by the Telegraph.
The cities of Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore will welcome the matches, spanning from February 19 to March 9.
This championship will showcase the top eight teams from the preceding ODI World Cup, split into two groups. The leading two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, which are scheduled in Karachi and Rawalpindi on March 5 and 6, respectively. The grand finale is planned for Lahore on March 9.
Group A will see action from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, while Group B will feature England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan.
The tournament’s opening match will pit Pakistan against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19, followed by India versus Bangladesh in Lahore on February 20.
India is slated to play all their group matches in Lahore, clashing with New Zealand on February 23, and engaging in a much-awaited match against Pakistan on March 1.
England will start their journey with a game against Australia in Lahore on February 22, followed by matches against Afghanistan and South Africa in Lahore and Rawalpindi on February 25 and March 2, respectively.
It’s important to note that all member nations have pledged their support for the Champions Trophy to the ICC. The BCCI will decide post-government consultation.
The event signifies the ICC Champions Trophy’s comeback after an eight-year break, with the previous edition in 2017 ending in Pakistan’s triumph over India.
