LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast monsoon rains and gusty winds in Lahore and several regions of Punjab on Tuesday night and Wednesday, coinciding with Ashura days.

According to the PMD, light to moderate monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are making their way into central and upper parts of Pakistan. Additionally, a westerly wave is influencing the upper regions of the country. These weather conditions are expected to bring monsoon rains and gusty winds to isolated areas including Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Mianwali, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, and Bahawalnagar on Tuesday night and Wednesday, with occasional breaks in between. Elsewhere in the province, hot and humid weather is expected to persist.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 38-40°C on Wednesday and slightly drop to 37-39°C on Thursday. Over the last 24 hours, Lahore and most parts of Punjab experienced hot and humid conditions. Attock recorded the highest temperature in the province at 42°C. Other regions such as Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Sargodha saw maximum temperatures reach 41°C. In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C with evening relative humidity at 54 percent.
