PDMA issues flood warning from July 21
The NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has warned of possible urban flooding and flash floods due to expected moderate to heavy rain until July 9. This alert applies to northern Punjab, especially Sialkot, as well as KP and AJ&K.
In a Thursday statement, the NDMA warned that northeastern Punjab, especially the eastern river catchment areas of Potohar, KP, southern Sindh, AJ&K, and GB, are at risk. Heavy rainfall may quickly raise water levels in streams, causing flash floods in these regions.

NDMA Warns of Floods in 3 Regions Amid Heavy Rain Forecasts!
The NDMA forecasts significant impacts on the eastern rivers. The Sutlej River is expected to have a low flood stage with about 50,000 cusecs of water, while the Kabul River may reach a medium flood level with around 95,000 cusecs.
Conditions are expected to persist until July 9. Extreme rainfall may lead to additional releases from Indian reservoirs like Salal, Bhakra, and Pong Dam, potentially affecting the Chenab and Sutlej rivers.
NEOC has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in Gilgit-Baltistan until July 8, risking flash floods in local drains, especially in Chigar and Khaplu. Slightly heavy rainfall is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, KP, northern Balochistan, and AJ&K until July 8, 2024.
Continuous heavy to moderate rains may cause localized landslides along the Karakoram Highway, especially in Hunza and District Nagar. Areas like Gilgit, Diamir, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad may also experience landslides, potentially disrupting traffic and isolating remote areas from main roads.
