LAHORE: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore rejected the request of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi seeking permission for appearance before it via video link from Adiala Jail.
The court said that according to Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the journey from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi to Lahore is very painful, to grant the request to complete the attendance on video link.
The court rejected Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s request and ordered personal status in the trial of his criminal case.
The Anti-Terrorism Court said that IG Prisons should transfer Shah Mehmood Qureshi from Adiala to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Khalid Arshad issued a two-page order.
It should be remembered that a few days ago, the Anti-Terrorism Court had indicted Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the May 9 encirclement case.
Earlier, Shafqat Mahmood, a former prominent leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced on Sunday that he is retiring from politics after 34 years. He emphasized that this decision was made voluntarily and not due to any external pressure.
“Thirty-four years ago, I resigned from a government job to enter politics. After much contemplation, I have decided to retire,” Mahmood, a former federal minister, wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
