ISLAMABAD: Chairman Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Sahibzadaza Hamid Raza demanded to the Chief Election Commissioner to immediately resign from his post after historical verdict of Supreme Court on the petitions related to reserved seats.

Talking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Sahibzada Hamid Raza said that the Election Commission tried to PTI mandate, but the Supreme Court today restored the dignity of the institution by giving verdict in four of PTI.

Hamid Raza said that the Supreme Court also expressed no confidence in the Election Commission of Pakistan and he demanded to the Chief Election Commissioner resign immediately from his post.

Senator Shibli Faraz said that today is a very important day in political history, people were elected through Form 47, until all our seats are returned, the struggle will continue.

It should be remembered that the Supreme Court, while giving a decision on the petition of the Sunni Ittehad Council regarding the reserved seats, annulled the decisions of the and the Peshawar High Court and declared the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf as a constitutional political party and reserved seats for women and minorities should be allotted to the party.

On the hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan has demanded the immediate resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and members of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

PTI leaders held a joint press conference after the Supreme Court’s decision to award reserved seats to PTI.

Addressing the press conference, Omar Ayub said that Article 6 should be imposed on those who misinterpret the constitution.
