Moin Khan, the former captain of Pakistan, has expressed his reluctance to join the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) due to his son Azam Khan’s active involvement in the sport. “It doesn’t seem appropriate for me to take a position now that Azam is playing,” he remarked, recalling his initial tenure with the board in 2013.

While he has stepped back from these roles, Moin reaffirmed his dedication to cricket, stating, “I am always available for Pakistan cricket.” He deferred discussions about any future positions until after an announcement from Waqar Younis.

Moin also pointed out the PCB’s current operational challenges, specifically the need for a medical professional to address pending surgeries. “Surgery will only happen after a doctor joins PCB,” he clarified.

Reflecting on the World Cup preparations, he acknowledged their transparency but did not hide his dissatisfaction with the team’s execution, saying, “As a former captain and cricketer, I was also disappointed with the cricket team’s performance.”

He criticized the lack of strategic planning within the team and the systemic issues affecting player turnover. Moin advocated for nurturing new talent without premature judgments and urged for dignified exits for players, akin to Indian practices. “Players in Pakistan should be given a respectful farewell like in India,” he proposed.

Moin also cautioned against the detrimental effects of internal leaks on team morale and global perception, advising discretion concerning private discussions.

Looking to the future, he voiced optimism for India’s inclusion in major cricket events, emphasizing the significance of their presence at the Champions Trophy following the Asia Cup. “India is a big team, and they should participate in the Champions Trophy. It would be unfair if India does not come to the Champions Trophy after the Asia Cup.”
