Federal Govt announces public holiday on Sep 17
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a public holiday on September 17 on the occasion of Eid Milad un Nabi(12 Rabi Al-Awwal).
The Cabinet Division issued a notification saying that the government has declared a public holiday on September 17 across the country, all schools, colleges, government, semi-government and private offices will remain closed.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan, had announced that due to the non-sighting of the moon of the Islamic month, 12th Rabi’ul Awwal will be on Tuesday, September 17.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting held in Islamabad, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad.
It should be noted that the month of Rabi- ul-Awwal is of special importance for the Muslim Ummah as Muslims observe Eid Miladun Nabi, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
Earlier, Rabi-ul-Awwal moon was not sighted in Pakistan meaning Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH) will be observed on Tuesday, September 17.
According to Ruet Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the third month of the Islamic calendar will start on Tuesday following a meeting held in the capital city, Islamabad. Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees also gathered in various cities, including Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Lahore.
