FIA forms committee to probe disinformation on alleged rape case
LAHORE: A 7-member investigation team was formed to investigate the case of spreading disinformation based on the alleged rape of a female student in a private educational institution in Lahore.
According to the spokesperson of FIA, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle Lahore has started action against the elements involved in spreading disinformation on social media through the alleged incident.
The FIA initiated action on a complaint filed by the principal of a private college.
The investigation team has started identifying elements involved in the crime of spreading disinformation on social media platforms and creating a law and order situation.
All resources will be used to identify and bring to justice those involved in the crime of spreading disinformation.
The 7-member inquiry team of FIA is headed by the Deputy Director.
Earlier, Punjab Government has constituted a high level committee to investigate the incident of alleged rape of a student of a private college in Gulberg.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the formation of a committee to investigate the alleged rape of a female student in Lahore, which will investigate and submit a report to the Chief Minister within 48 hours.
According to the notification, a 6-member committee will work under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Punjab, while Secretary Home, Advocate General Punjab, Secretary Higher Education, Secretary Special Education, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Health will be members of the committee.
