ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has directed district administration of Islamabad to ensure  foolproof security on the occasion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

The Ministry of Interior has written a letter to Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Inspector General(IG) Islamabad. According to the Ministry of Interior, no illegal gathering is allowed within the limits of Islamabad, there can be no protest or lockdown on the occasion of the SCO meeting.

The Ministry of Interior said that the Islamabad High Court has issued orders to stop any protest or lockdown in Islamabad, so the district administration should take all possible measures for foolproof security.

It should be noted that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) has announced a protest on October 15 at Islamabad’s D Chowk, on which day the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held.

Earlier, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Li Qiang, has arrived in Pakistan after an 11-year hiatus for a four-day visit to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting.

Upon his arrival at Nur Khan Air Base, he was welcomed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, and Information Minister Atta Tarar. The Chinese Prime Minister was also given a 21-gun salute, and he is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and senior officials.
