PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has formed an 11-member parliamentary committee comprising opposition and government members to investigate the police attack on KP House Islamabad.

In the session of KP Assembly, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati said that law enforcement agencies(LEA) attacked KP House and rubber bullets were fired at people.

He said that the doors of the rooms of the Chief Minister, Speaker and Ministers were broken. He said it is not a good tradition to seal the KP House in the presence of the Magistrate.

He said that it is not a good tradition for the federal government to cut off a province from Islamabad and impose restrictions.

The speaker of the provincial assembly said that whether the federal government is forcing the people of KP to provoke, the opinion of the house should be asked. He said this is an issue of respect for this province and the House.

In the House, the opposition proposed to form a special committee to investigate the incident, on the proposal of the opposition, Law Minister Aftab Alam moved a motion to form a committee, which was unanimously approved by the House.

Munir Hussain Lughmani is the Chairperson of the Special Committee and the members include Dr Ibadullah Leader of the Opposition, Akhtar Khan MPA, Iftikhar Mashwani, Muhammad Arif, Shafiullah, Johar Muhammad, Asif Khan, Ahmad Kundi, Adnan Khan and Muhammad Nisar.

The opposition leader condemned the sealing of KP House and termed the Chief Minister’s disappearance as a self-inflicted disappearance.

Opposition leader Dr Ibadullah said that no one had taken the Chief Minister into custody and pointed out that the Chief Minister would appear in two-days.
