ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to boycott from the Special Parliamentary Committee meeting which was formed to appoint the new Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP).

In the statement issued by PTI late at night, it has been said that in the important meeting of the political committee of PTI, it has been decided to boycott of the meeting of the Special Parliamentary Committee formed for the appointment of judges.

The statement said that while approving action against those who voted in favor of the 26th constitutional amendment. The meeting also agreed to cancel the primary party membership and disciplinary action of the voting members.

According to the statement issued by PTI, issuance of show-cause notices to other members who severed ties from the party was also approved.

The political committee of PTI will ask the MPs to clarify their position on establishing links with government circles and their future will be determined in the light of their answers.

Earlier, A first meeting of Special Parliamentary Committee will be held today at Parliament House to finalise the name of new Chief Justice of Pakistan(CJP).

The Special Parliamentary Committee includes Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Shaista Pervez Malik and Azam Nazir Tarar from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N),  while Raja Pervez Ashraf, Naveed Qamar and Senator Farooq H. Naik from the Pakistan People Party (PPP) are part of the committee.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Rana Ansar and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F)’s Kamran Murtaza have been included in the committee, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Senator Ali Zafar have been included in the special parliamentary committee.
