Section 144 imposed in five more districts of Punjab
LAHORE: The Punjab Government has imposed Section 144 in 5 more districts of Punjab, during which political gatherings, sit-ins, meetings and protests will be banned.
The Section 144 has been implemented in 5 more districts of Punjab for 3 days, the Home Department has issued a notification in this regard.
Section 144 was imposed in Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur and Kot Addu, during which political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies and protests were banned.
The notification said that the ban will be applied from today till October 14. The decision to implement section 144 was taken on the request of the concerned district administration.
In the notification, it was further said that in view of the security threats, the public gathering can be a soft target for terrorists, orders were issued for the establishment of law and order, protection of human life and property.
Earlier, Punjab Government has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi for 8 days, during which political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies and other activities will be banned in the city.
The provincial government imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi for eight days, the purpose of the enforcement of the section is to secure the Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) summit.
Political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies and other activities will be banned in Rawalpindi, while double-riding, aerial firing, pigeon flying, flying drones and use of laser lights are also banned within the city limits.
