KARACHI: The Sindh High Court(SHC) has reserved its judgment on the plea to de-seal the dental clinic of former President Dr Arif Alvi.
Sindh High Court Justice Zafar Rajput heard the petition of former president Dr. Arif Alvi’s wife and son to de-seal the dental clinic during which the Alvi’s lawyer and representatives of the Sindh Building Control Authority(SBCA) appeared.
Justice Zafar Rajput questioned that when the construction was going on, why was no action taken at that time. On this, Sindh Building Control Authority’s lawyer said that action is taken if a complaint received as authority do not have enough staff to review three million buildings.
The court expressed annoyance at the reply of the counsel of SBCA and said that while SBCA has people to collect money, they mostly focus on collecting money instead of taking action against illegal constructions.
Later, the court reserved its decision on the petition to de-seal the clinic.
It should be noted that Dr. Arif Alvi’s dental clinic located in the Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society was sealed by the Sindh Building Control Authority at the beginning of this month.
Earlier, Former president Dr. Arif Alvi’s wife and son, Awaab Alvi, have moved the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the sealing of their dental clinic in Karachi.
The family of former president filed plea for de-sealing of their dental clinic located at Sindhi Muslim Society, a posh area of Karachi.
The petition claims that the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) sealed the clinic as an act of political revenge.
Barrister Ali Tahir, the petitioners’ lawyer, stated that Dr. Arif Alvi is being harassed purely on political grounds.
