Groups agree to 10-day ceasefire in Kurram: CM Gandapur
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has said that there was a 10-day ceasefire between groups in Kurram district.
Ali Amin Gandapur, while giving a briefing on the situation in Kuram district, said that the ceasefire between the parties is a welcome move.
He said the path of negotiations will be adopted for lasting peace and conflict resolution in the area.
He further said that there has been a 10-day ceasefire between two groups in Kurram, estimates are being made for reparation of damages while security plan for safe transportation is also being worked on.
It should be noted that a total of 102 people were killed and 138 injured in the attacks on the convoy of passenger vehicles and tribal clashes in Kurram.
Earlier, a delegation formed by the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Kurram situation has successfully concluded a two-day visit to the district to assess the situation and managed to implement a seven-day ceasefire agreement between the two sides.
Upon its return to Peshawar, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Muhammad Ali Saif, announced that both parties have agreed to a seven-day ceasefire accord.
He stated that an understanding was reached regarding the exchange of prisoners and deceased individuals.
