Rawalpindi: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, emphasized that no political leader’s desire for power should be greater than Pakistan’s interests. He addressed various national security and political matters during a press conference.

Key Messages on National Security and Terrorism

Tough Stance on Terrorism
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif stated that Afghanistan must prioritize bilateral relations with Pakistan over harboring terrorists, whom he referred to as Fitna Al-Khawarij. He ruled out any tolerance for the current status quo.

He strongly opposed the policy of appeasement towards terrorists and rejected discussions with them.

Achievements in Counter-Terrorism
Pakistan’s security forces have achieved significant success against terrorist activities:

925 terrorists neutralized this year, including many big names.
73 most-wanted terrorists eliminated.
Recovery of a large cache of weapons from operations.
2 suicide bombers detained and 14 terrorists surrendered.

Sacrifices of Armed Forces
A total of 383 officers and soldiers were martyred during counter-terrorism operations, reflecting the high cost of ensuring national security.

Internal Accountability and Justice

Lt. Gen. Sharif highlighted the Pakistan Army’s accountability system as unparalleled and non-discriminatory.

He cited the trial of Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed as an example, underscoring that the system holds individuals accountable regardless of rank or stature.

“If anyone works for personal interests, this accountability system will respond decisively,” he stated.

Post-9th May Cases and Military Courts

The DG ISPR confirmed that all perpetrators of the May 9 riots who were tried in military courts have been penalized in accordance with the law.

The masterminds and abettors behind these events will also face justice.

Firm Response to India and Kashmir Issue

He assured that the Pakistan Army possesses the capability to counter any Indian aggression.

India’s human rights violations in IIOJK and the systemic targeting of minorities were condemned.

“India is involved in Sikh killings abroad and genocide of minorities as part of a sinister conspiracy,” he claimed.

On Political Developments and Relations

He clarified that the army maintains a professional relationship with every government and rejected any political connotations.

Highlighted the Army’s non-involvement in talks with PTI.

Welcomed political dialogue among parties as a sign of democratic maturity.

Describing the 26th November riots, he referred to them as “November Conspiracy,” labeling them as acts of political terrorism originating from 2014’s attacks on state institutions.
