Security forces foil arms smuggling from Afghanistan
RAWALPINDI: The security forces have foiled a bid to smuggle a big cache of foreign made weapons from Afghanistan to Pakistan.
According to sources, the forces seized an arms-carrying truck at the Ghulam Khan Border Terminal and seized a large consignment of foreign weapons.
According to the sources, foreign weapons and magazines of modern design were recovered from the truck, 26 M16 rifles, 292 magazines of M4 rifles, more than 10,000 bullets are included in the exported foreign weapons.
According to the sources, 9 magazines of Kalashnikov and 244 bullets are also included in the seized weapons, besides 744 rounds of light machine gun are also included in the seized weapons.
According to security sources, the recovered weapons were hidden in a secret place in the driver’s cabin of the truck. The compartments and packing of the weapons in the truck were done in Afghanistan, these weapons and ammunition were to be used in terrorism in Pakistan.
Security sources said that many times foreign weapons have been recovered from the expatriates of Fitnah-ul-Khawarij.
The recovery of this cache not only highlights the threat posed by such groups but also underscores the misuse of border trade and transit systems that Pakistan has kept open to ease economic hardships for Afghan citizens. Experts assert that such actions harm both countries, creating additional challenges for Afghan traders and citizens already facing economic struggles.
